The philosophers of ancient times often asked the purpose of life. Similar question was asked to me by a friend of mine who is currently persuing medicines. His question was, ‘what’s my purpose in your scheme for advancing civilisation through space exploration?’ The answer of this question was inspired by Mark Rober at that time. I said there’s a talent hidden in some corner of this world who’s not expressing herself because of the disabilities put around her due to her environment. But now I would say something like this, Your task is multi-pronged, by paying tax you are ensuring that India can contribute financial resources in poverty ridden countries where that talent may lie. Because you are pursuing such a noble course you owns the capabilities to bring innovation in your own field which can have far reaching effect in our whole civilization. The purpose of your life doesn’t end here, your genes posses intelligent qualities which when passed on to the next generation can, moreover, be the pioneer of some project that creates the very base for future endeavors.
Toady we are living are having comfortable life when compared to earlier generation. But is it really comfortable? We have softer beds for better sleep, we have air conditioners to tackle adverse climatic conditions, fancy clothes to decorate our outer appearance to the world, we have different devices to playing games and relax our minds etc. These are comforts right? They appear quite ironic to me, air conditioners to tackle adverse climate condition, the conditions which we played with. Playing games on game devices to relax which really increase mental stress in long run. These all are part of materialism. The ideology of materialism states that everything including emotions can be represented physically. Now, what do you think, to which extent is it valid?
