Drugs As Weapons

We all know, how drugs affect our body, how they make us addict, how small-sighted it makes us and so on. These drugs can be helpful for some people inappropriate amount while prescribed by the doctor. But for an average person, it's harmful. Nowadays, it's cool doing drugs; for gen z, it's like the ultimate stage of being cool. But is it cool? I mean, who told you that it's cool doing drugs? Maybe you don't remember because it's a general idea. But who spread this idea, only someone making money out of it and who was it. They were imperialists earlier.

Do you know there were wars called opium wars? Are you familiar with them? It's clear from the name that opium was a reason somehow. So, this war was between China and the Britishers. The Chinese market was not open to foreign powers, and they investigate imports via a single port. So, to open a call to them, Britishers smuggled opium in China along with their other goods. They made the Chinese population addicted to it and replaced gold with opium as payment. Because of all this Chinese king faced huge losses and tried to tackle this situation which ultimately leads to opium wars. And as a result, China was colonised not just by Britishers but was squeezed like a lemon from different imperial powers.

Now, why do you think that the Chinese king faces enormous losses? Was it just because of the decrement in the gold accumulation? This was a supplementary reason; one accompanying reason was that because of opium addiction Chinese population got mentally retrograde. They lost creativity,  failed to overlook the short-term pleasures, couldn't realise how were they targeted, and the result was dreadful. This opium didn't just suck the resources of China but also neutralised the talents of the country.

Coming back to today's world, where do these drugs come from? I mean, which part-owns the fields of opium? If you try to get this answer, you'll find that Afghanistan is among the largest poppy producers. Isn't that country is the base for many terrorist organisations. So, we are giving money to our destroyers or, say, carrying agenda for non-human notions. Aren't we all are patriots? We all are against those types of activity, right? Like whenever some blast takes place, we are the ones showing condolences to affected people. When somehow some of us are responsible for that blast.

So, it should be clear that doing drugs affects our physical or mental being and funds the organisations we condemn. But, drugs affect our country not just by funding them. Also, it decreases the efficiency of a person, reducing the country's output, affecting its growth and stopping us from achieving our true potential.

Materialism

Toady we are living are having comfortable life when compared to earlier generation. But is it really comfortable? We have softer beds for better sleep, we have air conditioners to tackle adverse climatic conditions, fancy clothes to decorate our outer appearance to the world, we have different devices to playing games and relax our minds etc. These are comforts right? They appear quite ironic to me, air conditioners to tackle adverse climate condition, the conditions which we played with. Playing games on game devices to relax which really increase mental stress in long run. These all are part of materialism. The ideology of materialism states that everything including emotions can be represented physically.  Now, what do you think, to which extent is it valid? There's a saying that money can't buy happiness, which contradicts this theory. Is it really true money can't buy happiness? I believe there are two types of happiness one which last for short duration and other whi...

Brilliant Minds

What comes to your mind when we speak of brilliant minds? Albert Einstein? Stephan Hawking? Vinton Cerf? Bob Kahn? There are many names to say. Did they acquire that keen mind of their or they trained them? The thing is, we cannot be sure. After all, science has its language and so makes minds. Two types of mind one innately possess extraordinary capabilities and others who train themselves and push their limits. Nevertheless, these limits can be pushed to some extent only after that saturation comes or, say, and it went out of our hands. A movie named 'A man who knew infinity is based on the life of Srinivas Ramanujan. He was good with the number and contributed a lot in the field of Mathematics. However, what intriguing was that he was not trained or lectured by anyone. Moreover, on the contrary, there was G.H hardy who identified his work and helped him contribute to humanity. I am trying to say that if one deems to a person out of the above two, who will it be? My guess is Srin...
